Art-Historical Research
The Art-Historical Research group is dedicated to comprehensive art-historical studies in the fields of architecture, visual arts, and applied arts. The focus of research includes both individual works of art and craft objects and their collections, as well as the broader study of historical technologies and materials. Strong emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary cooperation, linking the results of art-historical research with findings from technological studies and conservation practice. The working group includes specialists in historical building structures, medieval, early modern and modern art, as well as historical glass. Team members collaborate with conservation scientists and restorers on interdisciplinary research projects and also conduct focused art-historical studies on selected topics in art and applied arts history. Among the key outcomes of the group are nationwide topographic databases focused on fine art in public space of the second half of the 20th century (https://sochyamesta.cz) and on mosaics (https://ceskemozaiky.cz).
