The Research in Art History group is concerned with complex art-historical research in the spheres of architecture, art and the applied creative arts. The research activities are centred on specific arts and crafts and artistic artefacts and collections thereof, and the study of historical technologies and materials in general. Emphasis is placed on inter-disciplinary cooperation, interconnection of the results of art-historical research with the information gained from technological research and restoration work in practice. The working group also includes specialists in the historical construction of structures, mediaeval and early modern and modern art, as well as historical glass objects. Team members cooperate with technologists and restoration workers on interdisciplinary research projects and also carry out artistic – historical research in selected areas in the history of art and artistic crafts. Important results of the team include especially a country-wide database concerned with the creative art of the second half of the 20th century in public areas (https://sochyamesta.cz) and mosaics (https://ceskemozaiky.cz).
